A D V E N T - day # 5

Moni sent Eierlikör/Advokaat. When my children where small enough to believe in the mystery of Christmas and Nikolaus I had a ritus every evening before the 6th of December.
I put a plate with some cookies for Nikolaus and another little bowl with eggnogg in front of the door to feed the Nikolaus and his reindeer.
My daughter insisted to follow this rule
until she moved out :-)

Nikolaus (chocolate) was one day early, but neverless welcomed!


Ines wrapped the heart so trendy and it is in my favorite color actually! will find a nice place in my studio

sorry for beeing late, but daily life comes first ;-)

In DD's lovely wrapped box I found a cute tee-"egg" in heartshape - so cute!

A D V E N T - day # 3

In DD's parcel with the number three was also a lovely tiny clear stamp and some stickers for my christmas cards, which are still do produce

A D V E N T - day # 2

Today I want to show you the opend box from my daughter, filled with 24 packages, isn't it so pretty. Ines is just a darling.


In parcel # 2 I found a cute tin with selfmade cookies inside - yummy !!



Monika wrapped a breakfast board for quilters with spools, cute! and really needed handcreme - DankeschÖÖÖn, Moni

Christmas market in Ulm

Yesterday Heidi and I had a wonderful time together. We made a trip to Ulm and visited the christmas market, right beside the Ulmer Münster
We walked into several shops and bought little things here and there. One of the best stops was at Heike Redlinghaus's yarnshop. A tiny, but exquisite shop, wonderful luxury yarns, books and samples. I couldn't help myself, I "had" to buy a wonderful mother of perl button, about 2,25" diameter - a beauty

And Heide bought some new knitting needles I had never seen or heard about before:
KnitPro cubics!! yes needles aren't round anymore, they are cubic. She even bought some for me!
Can't wait to give them a try


At least we had a delicious cake and a cappucino with a fantastic view to the christmas market - couldn't be better

Adventcalendar for DH

This year I sewed a cornucopia and filled in the gifts for DH
it's filled with some gifts, not all are fitting at the same time, so I have to fill it daily ....


I hope, he like it ;-)

big Surprise # 3 !!!

Again, the sequence doesn't meen I like one of them more than another!

DD Ines made a wonderful really big box for me, which was the first present in a row of 24! it's about 15" one side! really big - inside are cute little packages,
can't wait to open 3 surprises per day !!!

Am I happy? YES I am, happy dancing here

My friend Monika sent a parcel filled with 24 little parcels, nicely wrapped in red and white striped paper. I store them on my beloved rose fabrics in a drawer.

I'm blessed this year, I got 3 (three !!) Adventcalendar, one from my husband, one from Monika and last but not least a real big box filled with 24 parcels from my daughter! She made the box herself (she is a bookbinder) - LOVE IT !!!!!!!

YES, I know I'm very early to announce my purpose for the New Year, everybody is prepairing Christmas, me too BTW
BUT it just came to mind - so here it is:

I think, I finished a lot this year, but didn't wrote it down or posted everything here on my blog.

My LQS offered a quilt-as-you-go-workshop some time ago and I jumped right into action. DD's boyfriend's birthday came to mind. And I wanted to pracitce this technique, never did before, just knew by theorie how-to

tricky 9 patch Youtube tutorial

right now I enjoyed the blog from Barb. She is showing wonderful pics of her quiltgroup, their work and homes. During one of their Retreats they taped a Youtube: it explains a very clever timeconsuming way to sew 2 Nine Patchs at once - so easy!

Mill Girls Quilt-Along

Anne Ida posted on her blog about the Mill Girls Quilt-Along
Jennifer Chiaverini is the famous autor of the Elm Creek books and a great quilter. I was lucky to meet her in Shipshewana in November 2oo5, she had a trunkshow at the Dear Jane Retreat. FANTASTIC quilts and very nice woman. Just in time begore Christmas her new book The Wedding Quilt will come out.

Several members of the SBS-and-other-Elm-Creek-Quilts yahoo group are sewing Mill Girls blocks. I tried it and of course my first block turned out to be too small. Didn't think of the scant seam allowance - but the block will find a nice place someday I'm shure (maybe a cushion). Pressing is tricky too .... just my experience

Red and White quilts, influenced by the extraordinary exhibition in New York

In southern California is a fantastic quiltshop_ Temecula Quilt Company
They have been influenced by the extraordinary exhibition early this year in New York and asked for red and white quilts. This month they are showing the results in their shop - FANTASTiC quilts!!!!! hope over to their blog and look at this beauties!
Perhaps I'm able to see this shop in January, just hoping
