happy dancing here in Poland - my BAG arrived

Lucky news from Szczecin:
I am the lucky owner of Rhonda's adorable crazy bag !!!!!!!!!
can't believe it actually
It is a masterpiece, she used several fabrics and lace and she did fantastic embroidery with floss, silkribbon and beads.
Rhonda created a spider with its web, a cute baskets full of roses, sunflowers, fans, a dragonfly and played with different stitches.

The basicfabric is a warm dark chocolate, lined with a warm darkred fabrics showing roses – 5 pockets inside are offered to prevend the typical chaos in bigger bags (I normally have)

It is a beauty

Rhonda surprised me also with a Quiltmaker magazine, Fons and Porter directional pins (never seen them before, quiet clever!) and purple beads

THANK YOU Rhonda - I am absolutly thrilled !!!

Thank you Linda fort his GREAT swap,
it was big fun to sew AND to enjoy the surprise

I promised more pics. Here they are
I spent one week with my friend Monika and we had a lot of fun together and participated at a quiltshops exhibition.
Of course I had to buy some fabrics as well, infected from Monika's tote ..... more about that later

My Dear Jane Secret Pal sent fantastic fabrics in the past months to Poland.
They coordinate perfect together: turquoise and brown, sewing themed. My husband wondered how excited I was, when this fabrics arrived and offered the longarmquilting at my favourite place in Indiana ( hi Colleen! ) Isn’t that great?
Starting with an idea of Robert Kaufmann, the designer of one of the series
I played with crayons on paper the oldfashioned way ;-)
This is the result of my sewing during the last week at my friends home.

Even with some health issues I was able to finish 15 11” blocks – TADA!!

sorry, the colors aren't exactly how it looks like in reality .... but I liked to take pictures in Monika's wonderful garden.
I added my siggys rectangles, which had been signed for me by the Janiacs at the DJ Retreat in Shipshewana / November 2oo5.
Here comes an impression of the Siggy border.

Now I’m waiting for another fabric to make the missing 3 blocks and I found a great flannel for the backside also at equilter.
Actually my DH is for 4 weeks on exercise and works really hard,
Nelli and I take care for the house.

Bag Swap - my contribution

Today I’ll show you some snapshots of the bag I made and sent to my bag swap partner somewhere.
I took the idea from this Japanese book
A little craziness
and many tiny embroidered knots later I added one old button and it was READY to go.

This was big fun to make, hope the recipient will like it.
Can't wait to get mine.

Tomorrow I show you the result of the last week sewing at my friends home. Even with some health issues I was able to finish 15 11” blocks – TADA!!

Hugs Brigitte

Daydreams

During my visit in Lueneburg at my friend Monica's home I started a new daydream. Actually I REALLY don't need a new project (PLEASE don't ask me how many UFOs I own) -
but this picture from Eugen Stross is asking for beeing redone in fabrics. It reminds me to 4 visits in this special town.

Jeanne's pincushion arrived

dancing around .... I got a priority envelope from Minnesota ..... it was from Jeanne, which I met in person during the Dear Jane Retreat in Shipshewana, IN in fall 2oo5
She sent a cute little apple pincushion, made from wool. She enclosed a apple fabric FQ, I've never seen before AND

a Fons & Porter pencil tin with pretty Feahtered Star pattern on it.

The card made me smile because of the lazy cat on top of a DWR quilt, cats are so special

TAHNK YOU SO MUCH, Jeanne - I'll love your pincushion, it just went into my Redwork box to be used, also the tin

my Dear Jane layout

this is my design layout - the idea of it:
the colors are different

Do you see the + and the x ??
in this part I'm going to use a very light background,
in the other parts ( "triangles of the pinwheel" and the border ) the background is the same, just darker

Each of the " pinwheel " will get different values of taupe, japanese fabrics I collected during my trip to the States in April
- still a dream

2nd attempt

to put the Label to the GiVEAWAY I posted before ....

Announcement: great giveaway

somewhere in the worldwideweb I found the LINK to a fantastic giveaway. Maybe it would be more clever not to tell you - but on the other hand, one of the rules is, to tell ....

Leave a comment on Dana's blog, she offers a bright quilt, which I would love to win !!!
Unfortunatly I'm unable to add this graphic into my sidebar AND this dear blog doesn't want to add pictures right now, so I have to add it later - grrr

pincushio swap

Just a few minutes ago I got a lovely email from Kim, which is the reciever of my pincushion I sent to Minnesota. Her blog is worth to visit: enjoy - she is very talented.
I embroidered all edges of the 5 squares with different beading patterns. It's kind of freeform .... just fun to make! and I'm afraid the little Polish thimble wouldn't helpful for handsewing, sorry

I'm just glad, that my little darling is welcome at the new sewingplace.

NOW I'm waiting for my pincushion from ???????????????
BTW:
I'm still not able to add a Signature automaticly
- is there help somewhere in the www ?

Dear Jane Embroidery

Inge, Ute, Brigitte and Angelika surprised me with this lovely present, when I moved from Duesseldorf last summer. Now I am the lucky owner of this pretty xstitch embroidery and enjoy it every day. The pattern is from Lynda Myers.

My friend Gabi made a fantastic quilttop from Lungis for me. Lungis are woven plaids and stripes, normally worn from men in Bangladesh (her husband is born there)

Actually she is very ill right now with Typhus, they came back from Bangladesh 4 weeks ago. I'm wishing all the best to her. Positive thoughts are more than welcome, friends

Signature - TEST

thanks to Taniwa in Japan, she posted, how to have a signature at the end of each posting - hope it works

good evening

A big EXCUSE to all the readers, coming to see pictures from my quiltjourney - - - I'm sorry - too much was going on. At least I do have serious toothache and 4 appointments next week with my favorite dentist.

Tomorrow I have to fix my luggage to go on the road again.
In Berlin (my original hometown) is a beading-Retreat with 38 women from all over Germany (and the Netherlands and Swizerland). I'll met friends from the region of my former hometown Duesseldorf and perhaps I'll see my son also.

This evening the sky had such spectacular colors - I took pictures for you

Pictures from my trip are coming soon
Today I folded about 90 Japanese (taupe) FQs for my new Dear Jane, yesterday I ordered the background fabric from Buggy Barn in WA, that's from the quilting department ;-)

Gardenfairies

After some busy days I'm here again to show you my newest project: Gardenfairies - a design from Ursula Schertz.

They are really funny to stitch.

I signed in an intern. Siggy Swap with Christmas fabrics - couldn't restist.
On the other hand I started to swap individually Siggy blocks again.
I participated in the intern. DJ Swap in 2005, the European Siggy Swap 2oo4 and was the swapmom of a German Siggy Swap also in 2004.
just one message on the yahoo list and I had ~ 20 women willing to swap.
The block is based on the book from Brenda Papadakis: Dear Jane ( D 13 ), it's a square in a square block, finished 4,5 inches - very easy to sew and so much fun to swap!
My friend Monika is also swapping blocks worldwide.
